1 The meeting was opened at 9.10pm by Mr. Deacon, with 2 eight members of the past and present committees in attendance.

3 Miss Sue Watkinson was co-opted on to the committee 4 as a coffee representative.

5 The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed, and 6 the new president took the chair, giving formal thanks to 7 Mr. Deacon for the service he had given during the last session.

8 The question of running a stall at I.C.’s carnival in 9 May was discussed but it was decided to leave any 10 decisions until more information was forthcoming. 11 Correspondence Since the last meeting, Mr. Micklewright had written 12 apologizing for his absence and offering to come in the summer term. 13 It was decided that a letter should be written to 14 the S.C.C. explaining the constitutional changes made in 15 the A.G.M., and asking for ratification.

16 A motion proposing a membership of 2/- in order to 17 cover affiliation costs was passed unanimously.

18 On the question of books, on loan from the R.P.A. 19 on a sale or return basis, it was thought that the books 20 should be returned next term. Although their sale did not 21 help the society directly, it was felt that the same 22 procedure should be adopted next session in the 23 interests of propagating humanist views. To the same end 24 it was thought that a campaign of suggestions of humanist

1 literature ought to be made to the Haldane Library.

2 A clarification of duties was made for the benefit of the 3 new committee members; it was felt that the previous year’s 4 practice of having definite responsibilities had worked better. 5 Suggestions were put to the secretary for speakers next 6 session.

7 With respect to proposals already accepted it was 8 decided to send notices of our meetings to the secretaries 9 of the Christian societies.
