1 The meeting was declared open by the president at1 6.05 p.m.

2 All seven members of the committee were present.

3 The only matters on the agenda were correspondence and the 4 carnival preparations.

5 Correspondence.
6 The U.H.F. secretary noted that the spring number of the U.H.F. 7 bulletin was available and this time dealt with “Marriage and 8 the place of women in Society. These were being supplied to 9 us at a cost of 2/6 each and it was suggested we sell them for 10 3/- keeping the profit ourselves. This idea was rejected, but 11 as they could be obtained on a sale or return basis, it was 12 decided to order two dozen at 2/6 each.

13 The U.H.F. had written, asking for a repeat of last term’s meetings

14 The Secretary noted that he had written to four people for 15 possible speakers next term. The result of this was one rejection 16 two possibles, and an acceptance from Marganintha Laksi¹ to
17 speak at a General Studies meeting on 10th November, 1964.

18 Carnival Prepartations
19 The possibility of arranging both a float and astall was 20 discussed, but it was felt that, for the present, the 21 organisation of a float would be too difficult to perform.

22 A “treasure-hunt” was the final decision, as this 23 involved a minimum of labour. A plat of ground was to 24 be marked out with pegs and string and markers, on 25 which a name might be written, were to be sold. That

1 marker coming closest to a predetermined spot was to win a 2 prize of a bottle of alcoholic beverage. In order to prepare 3 posters for this stall a meeting was arranged for the 4 following Saturday.

5 It eas also decided to seek the genuine autograph 6 of various popular stars in order that these may be auctioned.

7 The meeting was closed at 7.45 p.m.
